The primary role played by an opposition party is to constantly reject those governmental policies which are not useful for the general public.

It can ask questions to the majority party and introduce alternative policies if required.

Their main target aim is to accomplish the vows made by them during elections.

In India, having a complete majority is impossible, therefore, the opposition parties plays a special role by keeping the majority power in check.
