Tidal power or tidal energy is a form of hydropower that converts the energy obtained from tides into useful forms of power, mainly electricity. Although not yet widely used, tidal energy has potential for future electricity generation. Tides are more predictable than the wind and the sun.

The kinetic energy of enormous amount of water moving between the high tide and low tide is the tidal energy.
Tides :
The periodic rise and fall of water level in seas and oceans is called tide.
The rise of sea water as a result of the moon's attraction is called high tide and the subsequent fall in water level is called low tide.
