INTRODUCTION
-Plants that grow on their own without any human intervention is Natural vegetation.
-Vegetation is the growth of plants controlled by human.
-Climate determines the type of natural vegetation growing in a region.
-Latitude and altitude determines the climatic condition of a place, hence natural vegetation also depends upon latitude and altitude of a place.
ECOSYSTEM
-Surrounding in which organism live and constitutes both living and non-living elements and this forms their environment.
-Environment constitutes 2 components : Biotic and abiotic components.
-A unit consists of plants, animals and micro-organisms in an area living and functioning together with the non-living physical factors is termed as Ecosystem.
-The dwelling places of organisms which provide them with suitable conditions to live, breed and flourish are called habitats.
VARIOUS TYPES OF VEGETATION.
-Natural vegetation can be broadly grouped in 3 categories 1. Forest 2. Grasslands, 3.Desert Vegetation.
FORESTS: complex ecosystem consisting of mainly trees that offer earth with many kinds of life forms.
GRASSLANDS: areas where grasses form the main type of vegetation due to low rainfall.
DESERTS:area where rainfall is scare. The vegetation in deserts is sparse.
