Hydrocarbon are two types one saturated which is alkane, single bond and second is unsaturated which is further divided in to two alkene, double bond and alkane, triple bond.
Functional groups of hydrocarbons are:-
1) alcohol (OH)
2) aldehyde (CHO)
3) ketone (-CH=O)
I hope it will help you
Thank you!!!!

The theoretical notes of the chapter: carbon and its compounds of class 10th are given below:

  • Carbon compounds are poor conductors of electricity.
  • There are several allotropes of carbon like a diamond.
  • The carbon atom forms a covalent bond by sharing electrons with other atoms.
  • Catenation is a property of carbon atoms to form large molecules by reacting with other atoms.
  • Carbon compounds are divided into two categories: saturated and unsaturated. Saturated compounds are formed using a single bond whereas unsaturated compounds are formed by double or triple bonds.
  • Haloalkanes, alcohol (OH), aldehyde (CHO), ketone (CO), and carboxylic acid (COOH) are several classes of carbon compounds.
  • Combustion is the reaction of carbon compounds in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide, heat and light.
  • Addition reaction is the reaction that converts unsaturated compounds into saturated in the presence of catalysts.
  • A substitution reaction is a reaction in which elements like chlorine can gradually replace one atom of hydrogen from the compound.
