Continuation of electro-magnetic induction:-

The practical of this effect:- This effect is practically used in dynamo.

Transformer

Transformer is a device which charges voltage with a very minimum power loss or no power loss at all. It consists of an iron core and two coils which are i) primary coil and ii) secondary coil.

Primary coil:- The coil in which an AC input is given is called primary coil.

Secondary coil:- The coil in which a loud(light bulb) is given is called secondary coil.

There are two types of transformers which are i) step up transformer and ii) step down transformer.

i)Step up transformer:- The transformer which increases the voltage is called step up tansformer. It has more numbers of terms, more numbers of voltage, and less number of current in its secondary coil than that of primary coil.

ii)Step down transformer:- The transformer which decreases the voltage is called step down transformer. It has less numbers of terms, less numbers of voltage, and more numbers of currents in its secondary coil than primary coil.

A step down is used to delievering current to our house from a national grid.

Ideal transformer:- Its power input is equal to its power output. It doesn't have any power loss, therefore, it is a 100% efficient transformer.

We know p=iv, as p is constant, i is inversely propertional to v. If v increases, current will decrease.

Principle of an ideal transformer:- 'For an ideal transformer, voltage ratio is equal to terms ratio'. Mathematically, vp/vs=ns/np where vp is primary voltage, vs is secondary voltage, ns is the number of terms in primary voltage, and np is the number of terms in secondary voltage.
