Electromagnets are temporary magnets which is usually prepared by winding a large number of turns of an insulated copper wire on a soft iron core.

Uses :

For lifting heavy loads, in hospital for removing iron splinters from the eye, for separating magnetic substances from non-magnetic substances, in radios etc.
