Types of reproduction

i) Asexual reproduction:-It is a process which takes place without the

formation of gametes or reproductive cell. It can be observed only in the

lower animals such as Amoeba, Euglena, Hydra and sponges.

ii) Sexual reproduction: - It is the process which involves the formation and

fusion of two types of reproductive cells or gametes. Both male and female

individuals take part in this type of reproduction.

of gametes. The offspring that arise by asexual reproduction are genetically

identical to their parent.
