Reproductive health includes sexual health, the purpose of which is the enhancement of life and personal relations. And not merely counseling and care related to reproduction and sexually transmitted diseases.

Components of Reproductive Health

There are three essential components of sexual and reproductive health care like-

Family planning – As per the words of Reproline “Family planning benefits the health and well-being of women and families throughout the world. Using contraception could help to avoid unwanted pregnancies and space births; protect against STDs, including HIV/AIDS; and provide other health benefits.”

Sexual health – A positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships is a must to have a good sexual health. Having safe and pleasurable sexual experiences which are free of coercion, discrimination or violence is referred to this statement.

Maternal health – The health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period is called Maternal health.

Importance of Reproductive Health

All should be well aware of accurate information about sexual life, reproduction, contraception methods. This helps to maintain a safe sexual and reproductive health. People could only protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections and diseases if they are well informed and well empowered about the same.

Women should be aware of when they would be fit for pregnancy. They must have access to proper medical services when they are pregnant, have a safe delivery and deliver a healthy baby.
