now , my question is,,.. I'm not understanding how to write that1+1+3+1+3+5 from where that came

please help me out from this

Answer:

spdf designates subshells. s subshells hold 1 orbital. p holds 3, d holds 5, f holds 7.

so, S=1,p=3,d=5,f=7

wherever there is s ,put the value 1 for that subshell ...for p,put 3....for d,put 5

In this way u can find the orbitals....

1s 2s 2p 3s 3p 3d

=>1(s)+1(s)+3(p)+1(s)+3(p)+5(d)

=1+1+3+1+3+5

=14(no. of orbital)
