Walt Whitman in his writing showed a lot of strong emphasis on the individual self and this could easily be heard in his poem “Song of Myself” where he talks about the importance of how one must be to themselves and the way in how he puts emphasis on “original energy” and “nature” This type of writing was never done beforeand only few people have been able to master the style since he first started it. Emily Dickinson would generally write about what interested her and what she thought about things and she would express this in such diverse manners that any of her poems could move you. Whether it would be in a humorous, dark, or pathos way her ideas and opinions would make a stand.
