“Now tell us what ‘twas all about,”
Young Peterkin, he cries;
And little Wilhelmine looks up
With wonder-waiting eyes;
“Now tell us all about the war,
And what they fought each other for.”

a) Why do you think the poet uses children to enquire about the war?
b) Did Kasper answer them to their satisfaction? Justify your answer.

Answer:

a) the port uses the children to enquire about the war to show that unlike adults children are innocent and understand was for what it is death and destruction, like Kaspar who does not know the reason for the war but calls it a great one.

b) Kasper did not answer them to their satisfaction as they still had the question how the war was great and what good can out of it.
