  • The Noyyal river is located in the Western region of Tamil Nadu, The small river of Noyyal originates from the Vellingiri hills of Tamil Nadu which is very close to Kerala border. From Vellingiri, the river flows through several villages. It flows through the cities of Coimbatore and Tirupur at last flows into the Kaveri River located at Noyyal (a village in Karur district). Once upon a time, the villages of Coimbatore was surrounded by the canals, reservoirs, and streams of the Noyyal river.
  • The Amaravati River is the longest (282-kilometre (175 mi) long river) tributary of Kaveri River. It is located in the districts of Karur and Tirupur. The long Amaravati River originates at the Tamil Nadu/Kerala border (at the bottom of Manjampatti Valley). Amravati shares its tributaries with Nanganji, Shanmuga nadhi, Thenar, etc.This river is used for irrigation of 240 km2 (60,000 acres) of agricultural lands in  Karur and Tiruppur  districts. The Amaravathi Dam provides 4 megawatts with the electricity generating capacity installed in it.
