Quantity of the wheat that bought at Rs.10 per kg is 10 kgs

Given:

Mohan bought two varieties of wheat

first at Rs. 9.50 per kg and second at Rs. 10 per kg

He bought 50 kg at total cast 480 Rs

To find:

What is the quantity of wheat bought at Rs. 10 per kg

Solution:

Let x kg and y kg be the quantities of first and second variety

Cost of x kg at Rs.9.50 per kg = 9.50x Rs

Cost of y kg at Rs.10 per kg = 10y Rs

Given total cost = 480

⇒ 9.50x + 10y = 480

⇒ 0.95x + y = 48 -----(1) [ divided by 10 ]

Given that total quantity = 50 kg

⇒ x + y = 50 ------(2)

⇒ Do (2) - (1)

⇒  x + y - 0.95x - y = 50 - 48

⇒ 0.05x = 2

⇒  x = 2/0.05 = 40

⇒  x = 40 kg

Substitute x = 40 kg in (2)

40 + y = 50

⇒ y = 50 - 40 = 10

Therefore,

Quantity of the wheat that bought at Rs.10 per kg is 10 kgs
