UNIT III - HEALTH AWARENESS
Sin Tax Law
Sin Tax Law
Republic Act 10351, or the Sin Tax Reform Law, is one of the landmark legislations under the Aquino Administration. It is primarily a health measure with revenue implications, but more fundamentally, it is a good governance measure. The current excise tax system on alcohol and tobacco products and fixed long standing structural weaknesses, and addresses public health issues relating to alcohol and tobacco consumption.
Package 2+ of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program proposes increasing taxes on tobacco, alcohol, and e-cigarette products to fund universal health care (UHC) and to reduce the incidence of risks associated with the consumption of “sin” products.
Are you in favour with the implementation of this law? What do you think are the benefits of this law to our economy? And the effects to the lower class populace in which most of them consumed more of this products? Do you think this law will lessen the health problem of Filipino people caused by these products (alcohol and cigarette)?
