nth term of a sequence is 2n + 1. Is this sequence an A.P.? If so find its first term and common difference.

Given ,

The nth term of an AP is 2n + 1

Thus ,

First term = 2(1) + 1 = 3

Second term = 2(2) + 1 = 5

We know that , the difference between any two consecutive terms in an arithmetic progression is called common difference

Common difference = 5 - 3

Common difference = 2

Hence , first term and common difference are 3 and 2
