Let the number amina thought be y.

Given that,

She substracts 5/2 from it,i.e. y-5/2.

,multiplies results by 8

.°.New number=8(y - 5/2)

Also given,

New number=3 x odd number

• 8(y-5/2)=3y
• 8y-8 x 5/2=3y
• 8y-4 x 5=3y
• 8y-20=3y
• 8y=3x+20
• 8y-3x=20
• y=20/5

So,the number amina thought is 4.
