Nuclear energy is the recent source of energy but this could be disastrous as well. How can we use this energy safely and for longer period of time?

It could. For example if not controlled it could kill 1.3 million people per year. Most people would call that a disaster, but most people still drive cars (Road Crash Statistics).

My point is these things are relative. Coal mining for electricity production kills hundreds of miners every year. Hydro dams can be a disaster for the local environment.

How can we use this energy safely and for the longest period of time?

Nuclear power plants are relatively safe sources of energy. And usually designed for a long life.

There are no new, privately funded nuclear power plants being built. But that is a decision of the capital markets to take their money elsewhere and not related to the safety of the plants
