Hey there!!

Thank u For Your Question ,

First of all ,
Let us Understand

what is neuclear energy?

Energy Contained in the nucleus of an atom is called nuclear energy . It is released during nuclear Reaction ,
but what is nuclear reaction ? well , look
A reaction in which composition of the reacting nuclei changes to form new elements with simultaneous release of large Energy is called a nuclear reaction
Nuclear reaction is of Two types -

1) Nuclear Fission

2 ) Nuclear Fusion

let us look First

1) Nuclear Fission :

a reaction in which heavy nucleus splits into two or more smaller nuclei , with evolution of large amount of energy when it is bombarded with slow moving moving neutron is called Nuclear Fission reaction

The fission of an atom of uranium e.g. produces 10 million times the energy produced by the combustion of an atom of carbon from coal , in a nuclear reactor designed for electric power generation , such nuclear fuel can be a part of a self sustaining fission chain reaction that release energy at controlled rate.

Energy released in fission reaction -
in all fission reactions small quantity of matter is lost , this lost matter goes converted into energy which is released in any nuclear fission reaction ,

The energy ( E) obtained due to to loss matter of mass ( ∆m) is given by the famous Einstein ' s equation in 1905 ,

e = m {c}^{2} \\ where. \\ c = velocity \: of \: light \: = 3 \times {10}^{8} {ms}^{ - 1}

2) Nuclear Fussion :-

A reaction in which two or more lighter nuclei fuse to form a heavy nucleus and large amount energy is released is called nuclear fusion reaction
conditions -

1) High temperature ( ~ 4 -15 million kelvin)

2 ) High Pressure ( ~ 1 million atmospheric pressure)

thus it is called thermo nuclear reaction also

Did u heard about hydrogen bomb ?
well , that works in this principle

Hope this helps u !!
