Nuclear fission is a reaction where a heavy nucleus is bombarded by neutrons and thus becomes unstable, which causes it to decompose into two nuclei with equivalent size and magnitude . A great amount of energy is released. These neutrons can cause more fission's by interacting with new fissionable nuclei that will then emit new neutrons and so forth. This multiplying effect is known as chain reaction. In a small fraction of a second, the number of fission ed nuclei releases an energy a million times greater than that obtained from burning a block of carbon or exploding a block off dynamite of the same mass.Due to the speed of a nuclear reaction, energy is released much faster than in a chemical reaction.

Nuclear Fission is caused by the impact of Neutrons. It is the process of splitting an atomic nucleus. Power plants generate power by splitting large nuclei such as uranium or plutonium into smaller ones

Nuclear fission is the process in which a nucleus splits into two smaller nuclei with the release of energy. In other words the process in which a nucleus is divided into two or more fragments thus releasing neutrons and energy. This process is recurring where the new nuclei formed again under goes the fission reaction this emitting new neutrons. this process is known as chain reaction.
