When two light atomic nuclei fuse to form a heavier nucleus, they release a significant amount of energy as a result of binding nuclear force. It is this energy which is called the Fusion Power. Nuclear Fusion requires very high temperatures, in fact on the order of tens of millions of degrees Celsius.

Both fission and fusion are nuclearreactions that produce energy, but the applications are not the same. Fissionis the splitting of a heavy, unstablenucleus into two lighter nuclei, andfusion is the process where two light nuclei combine together releasing vast amounts of energy.
