Answer:

Nuclear weapons usage be it for preventing oneself or for ending war has been reduced due to arms control method of cooperation .

1. The most important of these are disarmament, arms control, and confidence building. Disarmament requires all states to give up certain kinds of weapons

2. For example, the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and the 1992 Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) banned the production and possession of these weapons.

3. Arms control regulates the acquisition or development of weapons. The Anti-ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty in 1972 tried to stop the United States and Soviet Union from using ballistic missiles as a defensive shield to launch a nuclear attack.

Answer:

Nuclear weapons are the most lethal forms of the weapon made by humankind, which had shown in world war -II when it was used for the first time by the US in Japan. During the cold war era, there was a nuclear race going between the US and USSR to make more and more advanced nuclear arsenal. It was being built in the name of deterrence, and to a certain extent, it has saved the world from another world war. But in modern times, it has very limited usage against contemporary security threats.

Reason:

1) State is more connected today by the economy, so attacking one country might lead to economic harm for the same attacker country.

2) Nuclear weapons create insecurity and disbelief among the common citizen.

3) The world has seen the effects of Nuclear weapons. And therefore hesitate in using this.

4) The resources used in making and maintaining Nuclear weapons are futile and can be used for health, education, fighting climate changes, etc. for underprivileged.

5 )It gives huge power in the hands of few people to destroy the entire humanity forever.

Although countries like the US, France, China, Russia, Britain have signed the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty and have stopped other countries from developing a nuclear arsenal, India and Pakistan have developed it and have not signed NPT. They agree on disarmament if other countries disarm themselves from nuclear weapons. Therefore the countries of the world should mutually sign an agreement and get rid of these menace ones and for all. As the harm it can inflict over humanity is irreparable, and therefore there is no point in proliferating nuclear weapons continuously.
