The reaction in weaker nucleophile is replaced by stronger nucleophile is called nucleophilic substitution reaction.

For eg: R-X + Nu^-= R-Nu + X^-

Like: R-X + KOH = R-OH + KX

In this reaction OH- is attracting nucleophile which replace X- from RX and form ROH
