Let's find 1st part first.
8 part is 1000
1st part is 1000 /8 =125
125 × 7 = 875
the percentage of boys in school = 875 ×100/1000
=> 87.5%
This question can also be considered as increasing in the ratio 8 :7
1000 ×7/8 = 875
the percentage of boys in school = 875 ×100/1000
=> 87.5%
You can also use direct proportion:
8/7 =1000/x
8x = 7×1000
x= 7×1000/8
