if you do it by direct proportion

no of bacteria : days = no of bacteria : days

19683000 : 10 = x : 5

19683000/10 = x/5

cross multiply

x × 10 = 19683000×5

10x = 98,415,000

x = 98,415,000/10

x = 9,841,500

so the number of the bacteria in the first 5 days was 9,841,500
