Heya friend!!
Rajdeep here....

The number of electrons each shell can accommodate is given by the formula 2n².
Where n is the number of shells.

Hence,
First shell can accommodate:
2 x 1² = 2 electrons

Second shell can accommodate:
2 x 2² = 2x4 = 8electrons

Third shell can accommodate:
2 x 3² = 2x9 = 18 electrons.

However, for stability, the second last shell, shall always contain 8 electrons.

Thanks!!
