To find mean we will add up total number or children, then divide by number of families.

So,

Mean =

(11+25+32+10+5+1)

 \div

(0×11+1×25+2×32+3×10+4×5+5×1)

Mean =(25+64+30+20+5)/84

=144/84=1.7142

Therefore,the mean number of children per family is 1.7142
