To find:

Number of lone pair of electrons present in XeO4 molecule ?

Calculation:

First of all , in order to solve this kind of questions we need to draw the the 3D structure of of xenon tetroxide molecule

Xenon tetroxide (XeO4) has 4 Oxygen atoms linked by double bonds to Xenon.

So, the hybridization of xenon will be sp³ and structure of the molecule will be tetrahedral.

Now refer to the diagram

Now , we know that Xe is a noble gas with 8 valence electrons.

  • Since , 4 double bonds have been created with oxygen , we can say that xenon uses all its eight valence electron in bonding with oxygen.

So, Xenon doesn't have any lone pair of electrons.

  \boxed{ \bold{\therefore \: no. \: of \: lone \: pairs = 0\:(Option\: a)}}
