Ans : primary hydroxyl group = 3
secondary hydroxyl group = 1

Explanation :- ribose is the example of monosaccharide carbohydrate . Molecular formula of ribose is C₅H₁₀O₅ . And structural formula of ribose is shown in figure. Here it is clear that primary hydroxyl group { -OH group attached with primary Carbon atom } is 3 and secondary hydroxyl group { -OH group attached with secondary Carbon atom} is 1 .
