The formula of the compound formed will be XY2.

Thus, (c) X0; XY2; AlY3

Given that X is a dipositive ion with 12 protons. Thus, the number of valence electrons it needs to complete it's stable state is 2. Y is a uninegative ion with 17 protons. Thus, one ion of Y has one spare valence electron to spare.

Here, X will form an ionic bond with 2 uninegative Y anions giving us the compound XY2.

As X is dipositive, it requires a single oxygen atom as the valency of oxygen is -2.

Aluminium carries a charge of +3 in its ion state and hence will require 3 electrons provided by Y to return to its stable state.

Thus we have, XO; XY2 and AlY3
