Given : Square pieces of side 5cm and a paper 40cm long and 25cm broad.

To find : The number of square pieces that can be cut from the paper.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the number of paper pieces)

The area of the whole paper (rectangular) :

= Length × Breadth

= (40 × 25) cm²

= 1000 cm²

The area of one square piece :

= (side)²

= (5)² cm²

= 25 cm²

Number of square pieces that can be cut from the whole paper :

= The area of the whole paper ÷ The area of one square piece

= 1000 ÷ 25

= 40

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, 40 square pieces can be cut from the paper.
