Funaria is a Bryopsida which passes through two stages of life cycle, namely, the juvenile or primary protonema and the adult form or the gametophore.

In the capsule of Funaria, the peristome lies below the operculum, and consists of two rings of teeth, with each ring possessing 16 teeth.

Therefore there are 32 teeth in total, covering both rings.
