HERE IS YOUR ANSWER...

Let the 2 numbers be x and y respectively.

x + y = 12

x = 12 - y ------- ( 1)

x - y = 4 --------(2)

Put value of x in( 2)

12 - y - y = 4

2y = 8

y = 4

x = 12 - y

= 8

adding both

x+y=12

x-y=4

ans=x=8

put value of x in eqn 1

8+y=12

ans=y=4

therefore gratest no. is x=8
