Answer:

7/9

Step-by-step explanation:

The numerator is 2 less than the denominator then let's assume denominator to be x

x-2/x

if 1 us added to the numerator and 3 to denominator then the fraction becomes 2/3

(x-2)+1/x+3=2/3

x-1/x+3=2/3

now use cross multiplication

3(x-1)=2(x+3)

3x-3=2x+6

like terms to one side and other like terms to other side

3x-2x=6+3 (sign changes as the number goes from LHS to RHS or vice versa)

x=9

now we put the value of x to thr fraction

numerator=x-2=9-2=7

denominator=x=9

if you want to check the answer add 1 to the numerator and 3 to the denominator as given in the question which means:-

7+1/9+3

=8/12

now after reducing this fraction to its lowest form we get:-

2/3 as we were given in the question
