numerator of a fraction is 4 less than its denominator if 1 is added to both numerator and denomenator  the fraction becoms 1/2

Let the denominator be x, then the numerator is x-4. Now the fraction is (x-4)/x. And when 1 is added it becomes 1/2. Therefore, (x-4+1)/(x+1)=1/2. Now we get x=7. Fraction is 3/7.
