Given :

⬤ Numerator of a Fraction is 4 less than its Denominator .

⬤ If 11 is added to both Numerator and Denominator the Fraction becomes 4 : 5 .

To Find :

⬤ The Fraction .

Solution :

Let :

  • The Denominator be = x
  • The Numerator be = x - 4

If 11 is added to both . Then ,

  • Numerator = x - 4 + 11 = x + 7
  • Denominator = x + 11

Now :

\sf{\dfrac{x+7}{x+11}=\dfrac{4}{5}}

5 (x + 7) = 4 (x + 11)

5x + 35 = 4x + 44

5x - 4x = 44 - 35

x = 9

Therefore , The Value of x is 9 .

Hence ,

Numerator = x + 7

= 9 + 7

= 16

Denominator = x + 11

= 9 + 11

= 20

Therefore , The Numerator is 16 and Denominator is 20 .

☆Answer☆

Let the denominator be 'x'.

So, the numerator will be 'x-4'.

After 11 is added to both numerator and denominator. Then,

(x+7)/(x+11) = 4/5

5(x+7) = 4(x+11)

5x-4x = 44-35

x = 9

Thus, the value of x is 9.

Numerator

= x+7

= 9+7

= 16

Denominator

= x+11

= 9+11

= 20

Hence, Required Fraction

= (16/20)

= (4/5)
