let the initial number be x/x+3
new number = x+5/x+8
= x+5/x+8 = 3/4
= 4(x+5) = 3(x+8)
= 4x + 20 = 3x + 24
= 4x - 3x = 24-20
= x = 4

thus the number is 4/7

GunjanJathliya: what should be subtracted from numerator and denominator of a fraction 15/19 to be coms 5/7
yuvrajkj: let the number to be subtracted be x
yuvrajkj: 15-x/19-x = 5/7
yuvrajkj: 7(15-x) = 5(19-x)
yuvrajkj: 105-7x = 95- 5x
yuvrajkj: 105-95 = 7x -5x
yuvrajkj: 2x = 10
yuvrajkj: x= 5
GunjanJathliya: ur answer is right
