TO FIND

Distance and displacement.

According to the question,

The rectangular track is 30m broad and 40m wide.

The person starts from one corner and reaches the opposite corner

Hence,

Distance = ½ of perimeter.

Perimeter = \boxed{2(l+b)}

=> 2(30+40)

=> 2(70)

=> 140m

Distance = ½ × 140 = 70 cm

Displacement = Diagnol of rectangle

Let diagnol = x

The diagnol is like a hypotenuse

x² = 30² + 40²

x² = 900 + 1600

x² = 2500

x= √2500

x = 50cm

Hence,

Distance : 70 cm

Displacement : 50 cm
