Appropriate Question

A bus going from city A to city B passed the 100 km, 160 km and 220 km points at 10.30 am, 11.30 am and 1.30 pm. Find the average speed of the bus during the following interval :

(i) Between 10:30 am to 11:30 am

(ii) Between 10:30 am to 1:30 am

(iii) Between 11:30 am to 1:30 am

Answer

(i) 160 - 100 = 60km

Avg. Speed during this interval is

 \sf{S = \frac{D}{T} } \\

 \sf{V_1 = \frac{60km}{1hr} = 60km/h} \\

(ii) 220 - 160 = 60km

Avg. Speed during this interval is

 \sf{V_2 = \frac{60km}{2hr} =30km/h } \\

(iii) 200- 100 = 120km

Avg. Speed during this interval is

 \sf{V_3 = \frac{120km}{3hr} = 40km} \\

Answer:

The distance covered between 10.30 am to 11.30 am is 160km−100km=60km.

The time interval is 1 hour. The average speed during this interval is

v
