The numismatic Society of India was established in 1910 for the study of coins. It was founded by 6 members at Allahabad.

Explanation:

  • Formation of the society came into being on the discovery of Roman coins in the 17s. Later members of the society brought into light the discovery of few more coins thereby publishing papers on their finds.
  • However soon a conference was felt essential for proper coordination between the individuals and other members. Eventually, a resolved society was formed to encourage the study of the Indian Numismatic.
  • It was established as a non- profit organisation. The aim of the society was to promote knowledge and improve the study of Numismatics.
