Answer:

Length of the chord is 16cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

The centre of circle is O.

The radius of circle is 10cm.

ON is a chord of 6 cm.

Perpendicular from centre of the circle bisects the chord.

Let the mid point of chord be E.

So, CE = ED

Join OC and OD.

We see, OCE is a right angle triangle.

Using Pythagoras Theorem:-

h ^{2}  = b ^{2}  + p ^{2}

10 ^{2}  = b^{2}  + 6^{2}

100 = bsq. + 36

100 - 36 = bsq.

64 = bsq.

 \sqrt{64 }  = b

8cm = b

CE = ED (Already Proved)

8cm + 8 cm = CD

16 cm = CD

Therefore, length of the chord is 16cm.
