Concept:

The unitary approach involves calculating the value of a single unit, from which we may calculate the values of the necessary number of units.

The unitary technique may be divided into two categories depending on direct variation and inverse variation.

The unitary method's formula is to identify the value of a single unit, then multiply that value by the number of units to obtain the required value.

Given:

Sonal and Preeti can complete the work in 30 days if they do it together.

Preeti finished the remaining job in 44 days after Sonal had put in 16 days of work.

Find:

Days would Preeti have taken to complete the entire project all by herself.

Solution:

Assume there will be 30 units of work overall.

efficiency of Sonal + efficiency of Preeti = 1

Let efficiency of Sonal be x

So, efficiency of Preeti will be 1 - x

Since Sonal worked for 16 days, she finished 16 units of work.

Work left  = 30 − 16x

Now with reference to question

Days Preeti completed the remaining work = Work left / efficiency of Preeti

30 − 16x / 1 - x = 44

15 - 8x = 22 - 22x

14x = 7

x = 1/2

So, efficiency of Sonal = x = 1/2

and efficiency of Preeti = 1 - x = 1/2

Hence,

Days Preeti have taken to complete the entire project all by herself =

Total work / efficiency of Preeti

Days Preeti have taken to complete the entire project all by herself = 30/(1/2)

Days Preeti have taken to complete the entire project all by herself = 30×2

Days Preeti have taken to complete the entire project all by herself = 60

Hence Preet would take 60 days to complete the entire project all by herself.
