examples for acceleration is against the direction of motionঃ

1. If one throws a ball straight up into the air the acceleration of the ball when it is moving upward is against the direction of the ball. The acceleration due to gravity is always pointing down.

2. Go for a drive. Slam on the brakes. Acceleration is backward though your movement is forward.

3. you are running on a road and see a wall ahead…then you reduce your velocity

that is one decelerates- acceleration is acting against the motion.

whenever in daily life one applies a force opposite to the direction of motion one gets an acceleration opposite to the motion
