Let the center of the circle be o and let seg AB and seg CD be the given congruent chords seg OM parallel seg AB such that A-M-B and seg ON seg CD such that C-N-D
OB=OD=10cm
AB =CD=16cm....given
MB=1\2AB
MB=8cm
OM2 =100-64
Om=64

hence the distance of the chord from the centre of the circle is 8 cm.

palaksharma143: can u solve it by method
AnzarHasan: let AB is a chord with centre O and radius 10 cm.then,OA =13cm and AB=10 cm,from O draw OL perpendicular on AB.So ,OL=1/2AB=1/2×16=8cm. from right ∆OLA,OL=✓10^2-8^2=√100-64=✓36=6 cm. hence thr distance between chord from the centre is 6 cm.
