By Pythagoras theorem,

OR² = OP² + PR²

OR²=9²+12²

OR²=81+144

OR²=225

Therefore,OR=√225=15cm

15 is the answer .

1)Let cord be AB = 24cm and it is given that it is 9cm from the centre
2)Hence let say 9cm line is OD it bisected cord in two equal parts
3)Join OA now use Pythagoras theorem.

 {oa}^{2}  =  {od}^{2}  +  {da}^{2}


 {oa}^{2}  =  {9}^{2}  +  {12}^{2}


 {oa}^{2}  = 225


oa = 15cm \: hence \:a nswer
