u = 280m/s

v = 0m/s

t = 4 s

First we have to find it's acceleration,

v = u+at

0=280+4a

-280=4a

a = -70m/s²

The deceleration provided by the wood is 70m/

The Distance upto which the bullet penetrated

v²=u²+2as

0 = 280² + 2(-70)s

0 = 78400 -140s

-78400 = -140s

s = 560m

So, the bullet penetrated 560m inside the wood before coming to rest.
