9. At what rate per cent per annum simple interest will a sum treble itself in 16 years?
Hint. Let the sum be * x. Then, amount = * 3x. S.I. = (3x - x) = 2x.)
Lan vaalaned at 6% per annum simple interest amounts to 7 4130 in 3 years.

Answer:

rate of simple profit (r)=?

time (n)= 16 yrs

here, the amount is trebled after 16 yrs.

so, if,

principal(p) = X,

total amount(A) = 3x

simple profit (I) = (3x-x) = 2x

we know

i = prn \\  > r =  \frac{i}{pn}  =  \frac{2x}{x \times 16}  =  \frac{1}{8}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \times 100\% = 12.5\%
