The production of electrical current can be done by many method 
the basic in production of current is that the mechanical energy is converted in electrical energy by the help of device called dynamo.
1> thermal power stations - here coal burns and heat the water and stream kinectic energy turns the turbine which indirectly turns the dynamo and the mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy
2>​ it can be produced by using hydro power stations - here electricity is generated by using water  and same phenomena follows here also
              other ways are also avaliable for production of electricity like nulear power plant. but the basic is same to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
