Object : To understand the Biotic and Abiotic components of your environment and their mutual interdependence.
Required Materials: Copy, pencil, rubber, sharpner, hand lens, rope, spud to dig mud or any other hard object
Method : Select a place near your school (note that there should be some plants in the selected area). Mark one metre
long and one metre broad part of this place. Observe minutely whether any insect-pest, Bird, frog or other organism is visible
in this area ? Dig the mud in some area and also observe the organisms by hand lens. write the name of groups of organisms
observed. (If name is not known give them names A, B, C etc. and try to represent them by drawing their figures). Note their
number in the notebook, count one organism one time only. If any plant is in the marked area then count is also in the group of
plants
On the basis of your observation note that in the marked area
Questions : 1. Which are the biotic and abiotic components ?
2. How many types of biotic components are seen here?
3. Is any food chain or food web seen here?
4. What are the resources available here for their survival of the organisms here?
5. Discuss about the above information and write the mutual interdependence of that place
