he got 70 % overall, less than the target of 97%.

GIVEN: Periodic Test 1      -18 17 15 13 15

            Periodic Test 2     -15 12 10 12 13 To find: out whether he scores 97 % or not.

Solution:

Periodic test 1: he got,

18,17,15,13,15

out of 20.

Percent marks =(18+17+15+13+15) ×100/ ( 5 ×100)

                         =78 %

Periodic test 2: he got,

15 12 10 12 13 out of 20.

Per cent marks in test 2 =(15+12+10+12+13)/5

                                          =62 per cent

weighted mean of both test 1, test 2:\frac{a+b}{2}

where a and b are per cent marks in tests 1 and 2.

(78+62)/2=70 %

So, he got 70 % overall, less than the target of 97%.
