Rutherford's experiment gives the following observation :

a. Most of the alpha particle passed straight through the gold foil without suffering any deflection from original path.
b. A few of them were deflected through the small angle while a very few deflected to a large extent.
c. A very small percentage was deflected through angle ranging from 90 degree to 180 degree.

2. There is a positive charge at the the center of the atom which repels the positively charged alpha particles and deflect them from original path.

3. The nucleus is very dense and hard,not allow the alpha particles to pass through it.
